...entstand im Frühjahr 2022 durch das Zusammentreffen dreier Musiker, die vereint sind in dem Bedürfnis, ausgetretene Pfade puristischer Musikinterpretationen zu verlas- sen. Der Begriff ‘Sprezzatura’ wurde von dem italienischen Schriftsteller Baldassare Castiglio- ne (1478-1529) als Fähigkeit dargestellt, auch anstrengende Tätigkeiten und Aktivitäten oder solche, die langes Lernen und Üben voraussetzen, leicht und mühelos erscheinen zu lassen. Das Wort selbst bedeutet übersetzt ‘Verachtung’, wird aber bei Castiglione programmatisch verwendet und beschreibt, wie sich der Mann am Hof zu verhalten habe: die offensichtliche Anstrengung verachtend, also lässig. Alles solle aussehen wie leicht getan. Die Musiker von Sprezzatura haben eine profunde Kenntnis im Bereich der Alten Musik. Dieses Wissen, zu- sammen mit der Freude am Improvisieren, an Folk und Jazz und der Vermischung von Genres ist das Merkmal von Sprezzatura 22. Dazu kommen noch die Lust am gesprochenen Wort, an der Inszenierung und eine große Spielfreude. Was kann man noch mehr erwarten?
...was created in spring 2022 through the coming together of three musicians who are united in their desire to leave the beaten track of purist musical interpretations. The term 'sprezzatura' was coined by the Italian writer Baldassare Castiglio- ne (1478-1529) to describe the ability to make even strenuous activities or those that require long periods of learning and practising seem easy and effortless. The word itself translates as 'contempt', but is used programmatically by Castiglione and describes how the man at court should behave: disdaining the obvious effort, i.e. nonchalantly. Everything should look like it was done easily. The musicians of Sprezzatura have a profound knowledge of early music. This knowledge, together with the joy of improvisation, folk and jazz and the blending of genres, is the hallmark of Sprezzatura 22. Added to this is a love of the spoken word, of staging and a great joy in playing. What more can you expect?
Duo Amaris
Jesse Flowers‘ reiche Palette an Klangfarben der Gitarre, gepaart mit Julia Spies‘ bemer- kenswert klarer Diktion und der reinen Ausdruckskraft ihres Timbres: Das ist Duo Amaris. Hier werden Geschichten zum Leben zu erweckt – Geschichten, die Jahrhunderte umspan- nen, in Liedern von John Dowland bis zu eigens für sie geschriebene Kompositionen. Spies und Flowers lernten sich im Zuge des Deutschen Musikwettbewerb 2016 kennen. Sie gaben fast 20 Konzerte im Rahmen der 61. Bundeskonzerte für junge Künstler, die von Pu- blikum und Kritikern gleichermaßen gefeiert wurden. Seitdem treten sie regelmäßig gemein- sam auf. Nach ihrer erfolgreichen Debüt-CD ‘Nachtstücke’ beim Label PASCHENrecords heißt ihr neuestes EP-Projekt ‘Tell Them’ mit Volksliedern von Lorca, Brahms und Bartók. Im Mittelpunkt des Programms steht jedoch der eigens für das Duo geschriebene Liederzyklus Tell them (2023) des brasilianischen Komponisten João Luis.
Jesse Flowers' rich palette of guitar timbres, paired with Julia Spies' remarkably clear diction and the pure expressiveness of her timbre: that is Duo Amaris. Here stories are brought to life - stories that span centuries, in songs from John Dowland to compositions written especially for them. Spies and Flowers met during the 2016 German Music Competition. They gave almost 20 concerts as part of the 61st Federal Concerts for Young Artists, which were celebrated by audiences and critics alike. Since then, they have performed together regularly. Following their successful debut CD 'Nachtstücke' on the PASCHENrecords label, their latest EP project is called 'Tell Them' and features folk songs by Lorca, Brahms and Bartók. The focus of the programme, however, is the song cycle Tell Them (2023) by Brazilian composer João Luis, written especially for the duo.
