Samrat Majumder (* 1999) - schottisch-indischer Gitarrist – wurde im vorigen Jahr Gewinner des “Deutschen Gitarrenpreises 2024”. Zur Auszeichnung gehören neben dem Preisgeld und einer wertvoller Statue auch eine Reihe von Konzerteinladungen, u. a. der heutige Auftritt in Darmstadt. Vor seiner Hochschulausbildung studierte Samrat bei Peter Stewart an der Junior School des Königlichen Konservatoriums von Schottland (RCS), später am gleichen Institut bei Allan Neave ( Bachelorabschluss). Seinen Master of Music absolvierte er 2023 am Königlichen Konservatorium in Den Haag unter der Leitung von Enno Voorhorst. Derzeit studiert er Konzertexamen an der Robert-Schumann-Hochschule in Düsseldorf bei Alexander Ramirez. Auf internationaler Ebene hat Samrat Preise bei Wettbewerben in ganz Europa gewonnen,  u. a.  in Iserlohn, LIGITA Liechtenstein, Baltic Guitar Festival, Aalborg, Koblenz International Festival, Groningen und Uppsala. Außerhalb seiner Konzerttätigkeit ist er Mitbegründer der Classical Guitar Reach Foundation of India (CGRFI), die in ganz Indien Bildungsveranstaltungen für klassische Gitarre organisiert und jungen talentierten indischen Studenten, die ein professionelles Studium der klassischen Gitarre anstreben, ein kostenloses persönliches Mentorenprogramm bietet. Samrat ist auch Botschafter für die Gitarren- und Harfenabteilung des Royal Conservatoire of Scotland und ein von D'Addario gesponserter Künstler. Neben der Musik liest Samrat gerne Geschichtsmagazine, sieht sich klassische Filme an und liebt es, indische Gerichte zu kochen.  

Samrat Majumder (* 1999) - Scottish-Indian guitarist - was last year's winner of the ‘German Guitar Prize 2024’. In addition to the prize money and a valuable statue, the award also includes a number of concert invitations, including today's performance in Darmstadt. Prior to his university education, Samrat studied with Peter Stewart at the Junior School of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) and later at the same institute with Allan Neave (Bachelor's degree). He completed his Master of Music in 2023 at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague under the direction of Enno Voorhorst. He is currently studying concert exams at the Robert Schumann University in Düsseldorf with Alexander Ramirez. At international level, Samrat has won prizes at competitions throughout Europe, including in Iserlohn, LIGITA Liechtenstein, Baltic Guitar Festival, Aalborg, Koblenz International Festival, Groningen and Uppsala. Outside of his concert activities, he is a co-founder of the Classical Guitar Reach Foundation of India (CGRFI), which organises classical guitar educational events across India and offers a free personal mentorship programme to young talented Indian students aspiring to study classical guitar professionally. Samrat is also an ambassador for the guitar and harp department of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and a D'Addario sponsored artist. Apart from music, Samrat enjoys reading history magazines, watching classic films and cooking Indian food.
